Traditional speech therapy and educational strategies weren't built for how many neurodivergent students actually learn.
The Inclusive Communication Project is an educational resource hub for SLPs, SLP-As, allied professionals and educators who want to learn about neurodiversity-affirming approaches.

Neurodivergent learners deserve to be supported in ways that presume competence and give them the tools to self-advocate for their way of learning and communicating.
The problem? Most therapy providers and educators were taught under the medical model of disability, which presumes that neurodivergent children need to be "fixed." These deficit-based approaches make it hard for us as professionals to presume competence and build autonomy and self-advocacy in neurodivergent kids.
There's a better way!
In the Inclusive Communication Project, you'll discover:
Why the approaches we were taught don't support neurodivergent kids in the ways we think they do
How to work with gestalt language processors and hyperlexic students in a way that works with their learning style, not against it
How to shift compliance-based AAC strategies into connected communication
Better understanding of how to support neurodivergent social communication in an affirming way
Approaches that actually support autonomy and the development of a positive self identity in neurodivergent students

"Emily was the first speech therapist we interviewed who identified our son as a gestalt language processor. She explained to us exactly what that meant, and provided lots of background information that helped us to truly understand how our son's brain works. She gave us suggestions and resources for supporting him at home." -R.I.
You don't need to feel lost anymore.
The Inclusive Communication Project will help you align your practice with your values so your neurodivergent students can thrive.
